Drop In

The drop-in offers a caring, relaxed atmosphere where child care providers, parents and young children from 0 to 6 years can enjoy a variety of activities.

The centre offers a great selection of toys, books, puzzles and crafts/sensory activities and a circle time, while giving providers and parents the chance to get out and enjoy the company of other adults. Staff at KPRC is on hand to provide support, resources and information.

Toy Library

Choose from a large selection of toys, books and theme boxes. The library is open during Drop In hours between October and May and members may borrow items for a two week period.

Toy Library Guidelines

As a courtesy to other members please remember to:

  • Check all items as soon as you get home before using them. Notify the centre immediately if pieces are missing or broken. Please return items intact.
  • Take special care with toys used outdoors. Please do not leave toys outside overnight.
  • Encourage children to look after toys they bring home from the library.

Parenting Resource Library

The resource library carries a variety of books, audio and video resources covering topics of interest to parents and childcare providers.  In addition, booklets, resources, information and handouts are available on a number of issues. Please see staff for more information or for referrals to other services.

Parent/Caregiver Education & Information

The centre offers a wide range of evening and daytime workshops. In addition, professionals in health and nutrition, child development, early literacy and caregiver support visit the drop in to provide information and resources. For more detailed information contact the centre.

Child Care Connection

Child Care Connection meetings are held throughout the region. The meetings are facilitated by Child Care Providers Resource Network and offer parents and home based caregivers a chance  to meet.  Information and resources to help establish and maintain satisfactory child care arrangements are also available. Meetings will be held at KPRC one Monday evening per month. Please see the calendar posted in the centre for more information.

Please limit visits to the drop in to a maximum of 3 times per week.

* Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre (OCTC) Learn and Play Specialized Group:  A drop in for families, children and siblings who are referred to and/or receiving services from OCTC, or who may have a language, motor and/or social delay in their development or who may have concerns regarding their child's development.

** Child care provider drop in: This drop in session offers adults who care for other people's children a chance to meet and share concerns.
